Overview
The VIAVI J9004D is the 12 x 8TB base configuration of the NITRO Core Traffic Storage Agent (TSA), a data access agent for NITRO Core. The TSA passively monitors control-plane and user-plane IP traffic and TDM to generate network, service and customer KPIs (SMARTmetrics). These metrics can feed NITRO Core applications or third-party KPI applications and data lakes.
Traffic capture and indexing
The TSA captures control-plane traffic frames, writes them to disk and indexes them in real time, including by IMSI, IMEI and MSISDN. Instead of processing all captured traffic continuously, the system retrieves the traffic associated with specific end-user sessions or calls on demand for troubleshooting applications such as transaction tracing.
Service and application classification
The TSA identifies end-user services and applications using several methods, including a DPI engine supporting more than 5,000 applications. User-plane records are enriched with information such as service, APN or 5G network slice, handset, location and subscriber group.
Third-party feeds
In addition to driving NITRO Core applications, the TSA can deliver SMARTmetrics covering both control-plane and user-plane data to non-VIAVI applications or data lakes at timed intervals. Operators can tailor feed content to include only the data the receiving application needs.
