Overview
The VIAVI INX-762 is a member of the INX 700 Inspection Probe Microscope series, a handheld instrument for inspecting single-fiber, duplex and multifiber connector end faces. It automates each step of the inspection process: test setup, tip configuration, image panning and focus, end-face analysis and results storage, either on the device or in the VIAVI TPA (Test Process Automation) ecosystem.
The INX-762 combines USB-C wired connectivity with Bluetooth-initiated WiFi wireless connectivity and uses a quick-swap standard-capacity 24Wh battery system. The battery is externally chargeable to support continuous operation in the field.
Inspection tips and imaging
The microscope uses the FPT series of stainless-steel inspection tips. Each tip carries AutoID technology that configures the microscope for the connector type under test and recalls the last analysis profile used with that tip. The PanOptic Imaging Engine provides an edge-to-edge field of view of multifiber ferrules, including alignment pins and guide holes, along with detailed views of each fiber in the array. Duplex connectors are inspected in a single test with a side-by-side view of both fibers.
Analysis and construction
End-face analysis combines classical algorithms for standard scenarios with AI-augmented analysis for more complex inspections, and supports IEC 61300-3-35 editions 2 and 3 as well as custom profiles. The tips thread onto a steel chassis that protects the optical system, and the handle has a textured, energy-absorbing overmold for gloved and ungloved use.
