Overview

The VIAVI INX-760 is a handheld fiber inspection probe microscope in the INX 700 series. It inspects single-fiber, duplex and multifiber connector end faces and automates each step of the inspection process: test setup, tip configuration, image panning and focus, end-face analysis and results storage.

The microscope uses the FPT series of inspection tips. Each stainless-steel tip carries AutoID technology, which configures the optical settings for the attached connector type and recalls the last Analysis Profile used with that tip. The PanOptic Imaging Engine uses one optical chain to provide an edge-to-edge field of view of a multifiber ferrule, including the alignment pins and guide holes, along with detailed views of each fiber in the array. Duplex connectors are inspected in a single test, with a side-by-side view and analysis of both fibers.

End-face analysis can run against IEC 61300-3-35 edition 2, edition 3 or custom criteria. Standard scenarios use classical algorithms, and AI-augmented analysis is available for more complex inspections. Results can be stored on the device or sent to the VIAVI TPA (Test Process Automation) ecosystem through VIAVI Mobile Tech and StrataSync.

The INX-760 is one of the INX 76x models, which add Bluetooth and WiFi wireless connectivity to the USB-C wired port. Per the datasheet, the INX-750/760 uses a 17 Wh Li-ion battery. The battery is quick-swappable and can be charged outside the microscope. The housing is a steel chassis with an energy-absorbing overmold and a textured handle that can be gripped with or without gloves.
