Overview
The VIAVI INX-754 is a member of the INX 700 Probe Microscope series. It is a handheld probe microscope for automated inspection and analysis of simplex, duplex and multifiber connector end faces. It has USB-C wired connectivity, with no option to add wireless connectivity, and a quick-swap extended-capacity 50Wh battery system.
Automated inspection
The INX 700 automates each step of the inspection process: test setup, tip configuration, image focus, camera panning, image analysis and results storage. Results can be stored on the device or in the VIAVI TPA (Test Process Automation) ecosystem. According to VIAVI, a complete cycle takes under 5 seconds for a simplex connector and under 10 seconds for an MPO 12x1 multifiber connector.
AutoID inspection tips
The microscope uses the FPT series of stainless-steel inspection tips. Each tip has AutoID technology, which configures the microscope for the connector type under test and recalls the last Analysis Profile used with that tip. No additional optical attachments are needed.
PanOptic Imaging Engine
The PanOptic Imaging Engine gives an edge-to-edge field of view without loss of magnification or resolution. For multifiber connectors, it shows the alignment pins and guide holes in a wide view and also shows detail for each fiber. Both fibers of a duplex connector can be inspected side by side in a single test. Image analysis uses classical algorithms for standard cases and AI-augmented analysis for more complex inspections.
Field design
The tips thread onto a steel chassis that protects the optical system. The microscope has a textured handle that can be gripped with or without gloves, an energy-absorbing overmold, a 2.4 in glove-compatible touch display and a battery that can be swapped quickly and charged outside the unit.
