VIAVI INX 700 Series INX-752 Automated Fiber Inspection Probe Microscope with 24Wh Battery

The VIAVI INX-752 is a member of the INX 700 Probe Microscope series, a handheld field tool for inspecting and analysing single-fiber, duplex and multifiber connector end faces. The INX-752 has USB-C wired connectivity, with no option to add wireless connectivity, and a quick-swap standard capacity 24Wh battery system.

The microscope automates each step of the inspection process: test setup, tip configuration, image focus, camera panning, end-face analysis and results storage. Analysis can use classical algorithms for standard scenarios and AI-augmented analysis for more complex inspections, with pass/fail assessment to IEC 61300-3-35 edition 2, edition 3 or custom profiles.

Inspection tips and imaging

The INX 700 series uses the FPT series of stainless-steel inspection tips. Each tip includes AutoID technology that configures the microscope for the attached connector type and recalls the last analysis profile for that tip. The PanOptic Imaging Engine provides an edge-to-edge field of view of multifiber ferrules, including alignment pins and guide holes, while also showing detail of each individual fiber. Duplex connectors are inspected in a single test with a side-by-side view of both fibers.

Field design

The tips thread onto a steel chassis that protects the optical system, and an energy-absorbing overmold and textured handle provide grip with or without gloves. The unit has a 2.4 in glove-compatible touch display, an action wheel, a status LED band, a 1/4-20 mounting point, a DC power jack and a Kensington security slot. The battery is quick-swappable and can be charged externally. Results can be reported with ReportPRO software and the series supports the VIAVI TPA (Test Process Automation) ecosystem.
