Overview
The VIAVI Xgig 1000 32/128 G Fibre Channel and 25/50/100 G Ethernet platform covers 8G/16G/32G/128G FC and 10/25/50/100 GE in a single portable chassis with reconfigurable ports. It succeeds the Xgig 1000 16 G FC and 10/40 GE platform. Equipment makers use it as a protocol test tool in R&D labs, and field installers use it to deploy and troubleshoot data centers.
The platform captures and analyzes traffic inline without disturbing the link. It can also inject errors inline (jamming). For copper connections, an analog pass-through adapter keeps the signal linear. A digital retime mode is also available.
The analyzer shows Physical-layer activity such as Auto Negotiation, Link Training and Forward Error Correction (FEC). It also decodes upper-layer protocols used in SAN, hyper-converged and clustered environments, including FC, FCoE, SCSI, iSCSI, iWARP, iSER, RoCE, RoCEv2, SMB Direct, NVMe over Fabrics and VXLAN. This allows debugging across all OSI layers, from the Physical layer to the Application layer.
Analysis software
Captured traces can be examined in several views: exchange, SCSI exchange, protocol, protocol tree, histogram and transmitter training. Drag-and-drop and custom filters are available, along with a filter/search/hide tool. Performance measurements and IO-performance statistics support storage and network service management.
