Overview
The Nicslab Multiconnector M7 is a 40-channel multi-connector with SMA and 2.54 mm pin-header interfaces. It is a passive interconnect board (type 7) placed between the main XPOW/XDAC system and a device under test (DUT).
The board breaks out 40 channels to both SMA connectors and 2.54 mm pin headers. Dedicated reconfiguration pins and per-channel and ground checkpoints allow the same board to be wired for different DUT connector types, SMA or pin header, without modifying the main system.
Board layout and wiring
The physical points on the board are labelled A to M. Points A to D connect to the DUT, points E to H are the reconfiguration pins, points I, J and K are checkpoints, and points L and M connect to the main system. Points L and M are pre-wired at the factory with ground and the corresponding channel outputs already mapped, and points G and H mirror them directly. In the factory default configuration, with the cable attached across E, F, G and H, Y1–Y20 and X1–X20 are ground, Y21–Y40 carry the CH1–20 outputs and X21–X40 carry the CH21–40 outputs.
Usage
A DUT with SMA inputs can be connected directly to any available SMA connector on the board, since the SMA connectors are already wired through to the main system; the matching channel is then selected in the control GUI. A DUT with a 2.54 mm pin-header input can be wired directly from point C or D in the factory default configuration. The ground and channel checkpoints allow verification with a multimeter without disconnecting the cabling.
Key Features
- 40 channels broken out to SMA connectors (CH1–CH40 across points A/B)
- Dual output options per channel: SMA connector or 2.54 mm pin header
- Dedicated reconfiguration pin headers (points E–H) to remap channel/GND assignments
- Ground checkpoints (2 pins) for multimeter verification
- Per-channel output checkpoints (CH 1–40) for multimeter verification without disconnecting cabling
- Direct pass-through connectors (points L/M) to the main XPOW/XDAC system, factory pre-wired
- Compact, passive PCB with no external power required beyond what passes through from the main system
- Supports multiple simultaneous DUT connection types (SMA and/or pin header) from a single board
