Overview

The Anritsu ShockLine MS46121B is a PC-controlled, 1-port USB vector network analyzer (VNA) with a frequency range of 150 kHz to 6 GHz. It makes 1-port S-parameter measurements and band pass time domain (distance to fault) measurements. The housing is small enough to connect directly to the device under test (DUT), so no RF cable is needed between the analyzer and the DUT.

The instrument is controlled and powered over USB from a user-supplied PC running the ShockLine software, the same graphical user interface used across the ShockLine VNA family. Up to 16 MS46121B units can be operated in parallel from one computer, with one channel per VNA. This allows parallel multisite testing of 1-port devices as an alternative to a single VNA with a switch matrix.

Options

Option 2 adds a Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) like display that enables real impedance measurements over frequency. Option 21 Scalar Transmission enables magnitude-only transmission measurements between multiple MS46121B instruments in (1-to-1) or (1-to-n) configurations.

Secure and educational use

The MS46121B has no on-board data storage, which simplifies its use in secure areas where instruments would otherwise need data purging. It is used for passive 1-port device testing in manufacturing, engineering and university laboratories.
