Overview

The Anritsu MA2481D is a member of the MA248xD series of universal power sensors for average power measurement. It covers the frequency range from 10 MHz to 6 GHz and provides a dynamic range of 80 dB, from -60 to +20 dBm. It is a true RMS sensor, so it can measure the average power of CW, multi-tone and modulated RF waveforms such as 3G, 4G and OFDM.

Measurement principle

The sensor uses three pairs of diodes. Each pair works in its square-law region, and together they cover the full dynamic range of the sensor. Because of this design, the sensor measures true RMS power whatever the modulation type or bandwidth of the input signal. Calibration factors are stored in the sensor's EEPROM.

Option 1

Option 1 (MA2480/01) adds a fast CW mode for high-speed measurement of CW signals, as well as TDMA and pulse measurements. With this option, one of the diode pairs is calibrated for linearity over a wide dynamic range. This gives 1.8% linearity for CW average power measurements.
