Overview

The Anritsu Power Master MA24507A is a USB-powered, frequency-selectable millimeter-wave power analyzer that covers 9 kHz to 70 GHz. It provides numeric, frequency-based average power measurements and can measure signals as low as –90 dBm. The input is a V(m) 1.85 mm connector.

The Power Master uses a receiver-based architecture rather than thermal sensing components. This shortens measurement times compared with thermal mmWave sensors and adds frequency selectivity, so power is measured only in the frequency band of interest. Up to six signals can be measured.

The instrument is slightly larger than a smartphone and takes up little bench space. It can be used for stand-alone measurements or as part of a system for calibrating vector network analyzers. Mounting holes allow it to be attached directly to probes for over-the-air or on-wafer testing.

PowerXpert software

The instrument is controlled with Anritsu's PowerXpert PC application. In addition to the general settings (measurement mode, center frequency, span and resolution), PowerXpert has a Power Hunter mode and a Channel Monitor mode. Power Hunter finds the six highest CW amplitudes and their frequencies within a user-defined range. Channel Monitor tracks the CW amplitude or channel power of up to six channels at once, each up to 20 MHz wide.

Key Features

  • Measures signals as low as –90 dBm
  • Suited to over-the-air testing of mmWave signals with high propagation loss
